Humanitarian shelter and settlement course an agreement between IFRC and UIC

We are happy to announce that the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) has signed an agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC).

This agreement enables us to be a partner university of IFRC and offer our master’s students the contents and expertise of their organization through a three week course on Humanitarian shelter and settlements to be offered as of this academic year 2014-15. The course enables us to fortify our program in post disaster and post-conflict situations providing our students with the opportunity to delve in relevant issues explained by practitioners on the field, and learn technical protocols regarding humanitarian situations and reconstruction.

Through this agreement, IFRC incorporates the expertise of The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in post-conflict situations which adds a holistic perspective to the emergency context. Thanks to this collaboration, our program intends to prepare professionals for emergency situations and enhance their greater understanding of the links between human settlement, humanitarianism and community development. Likewise, through this initiative our Master intends to contribute forming academics that are sensitive in their role of activism and community support in the field of Emergency Architecture.
