Photo competition ‘Environment & Me’ call for entries

Conferences, articles, workshops, competitions: all of them are good ways to raise awarness about climate change and our impact on the world around us. The European Environment Agency (EEA) has launched a photography contest both professionals and amateurs to express what the environment means to them.
The “Environment & Me” competition covers a large variety of topics, from air pollution to natural resources, environmental scenarios and further more areas for inspiration.

The pictures may be used to illustrate environmental issues in EEA publications and the overall winner will receive € 2000, while second and third prize winners will receive € 1 500 and € 1 000 respectively. Also, two prizes of € 500 will be awarded – one to the best photograph from a participant between 18 and 24 years old, and one for the winner of the public choice award, which will be decided by online vote.

The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union with the aim to provide independent information on the environment for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public. It helps the Community and member countries to make informed decisions about improving the environment, integrating environmental considerations into economic policies and moving towards sustainability, and also to coordinate the European environment information and observation network.

Submissions are now open until 30 September 2014; please visit the ‘Environment & Me’ page for competitions details.
