One of our latest guest professor duos, Dan Lewis and Estaban León of UN Habitat’s Disaster and Risk Management Branch based in Nairobi, Kenya, led a workshop with our students exploring dimensions of new thinking addressing urban-based crisis prevention and response. By placing the students in real-life situations in crisis such as Pakistan and Haiti, Dan introduced them to the international humanitarian response system, post-crisis shelter and housing issues and a better understanding of good and bad practice within humanitarian response.
