We are excited to introduce our latest guest professor, urban designer Dr. Reena Tiwari, Associate Professor in the Departments of Urban & Regional Planning and Architecture at Curtin University of Technology Perth (Western Australia). Her two-week workshop with our students will explore design strategies for regenerating urban and rural areas that emphasize community participation and also work a real-life project in Northern India.

What are the issues of design and sustainable development in developing countries? How do we design for communities in need? Can architects give voice to the voiceless through the act of design and building, and how can they involve local communities in the design process?

In this interview, Reena talks about the content of her two-week workshop with our students, and how they will be taking part in a real project in a rural community in North India: the renovation and restoration of an disused heritage school building.
