Things You Need to Know as a Humanitarian Worker
This thoughtful video was created by students Maria Clara Ribaudo, Tatiana Vejarano Pombo, Ximena Eguren, Jaren Mendoza Estrada, and Megan Montecino.
It was developed during the Human Shelter and Settlements (HSS) course certified by IFRC, facilitated in part by David Sanderson. The HSS certification is an integrated part of the Master of International Cooperation in Sustainable Emergency Architecture (MICSEA) program.
The video reflects the students’ insights and reflections on key principles of humanitarian work:
Support, don’t provide
Invest in people’s capacities
Flexibility and adaptability
Think long-term solutions
People-centered approach
Intersectional collaboration
A big thank you to the team for their dedication and creativity in sharing these valuable perspectives!
