Last month, we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of our Master of International Cooperation Sustainable Emergency Architecture and looked back at 10 highlights of our program.
Today, we take a closer look at the stats and numbers. Assistant Program Coordinator Allison Koornneef started an alumni survey and 44% of our former students responded.
Here is what we found out about them:
Our Students
Over the last ten years, we welcomed 202 students from 53 countries. Our current class of 2018/2019 has 26 students with 19 nationalities! Prior to undertaking the Master, most students had between 1-2 years of work experience (40,2%) or 3-5 years of professional experience (38,3%).
First Jobs
Most of our alumni started full-time jobs after graduating (70,3%), while around 9,5% worked part-time, 8,1% did volunteer work and 10,8% became freelancers.
Types of Institutions
After finishing our program, our students found jobs in a large variety of different types of institutions. Many alumni went on to work for NGOs and INGOs (61,8%), architecture practices (35,5%) and governmental agencies (31,6%). Others started a PhD or work as research fellows, consultants, or teach at universities and educational institutions.
Areas of Work
The extensive range of different areas of work that our former students have chosen reflects the multidisciplinary and holistic approach of our program. Some of the most popular areas are Sustainable Urban Development, Community Participation, Housing Design or Programs, Post Disaster Reconstruction, Community Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction. Further professional fields include Policy Development, Refugee Reception and Integration, Environmental Justice and Public Health, Mobility and Transport and Micro-Finance and Entrepreneurship.
