Last Friday, the Curry Stone Foundation named three winners of its 2013 Curry Stone Design Prize: Studio TAMassociati/Emergency of Venice and Milan for their health care facilities in war-torn areas; Proximity Designs of Yangon, Myanmar for their affordable irrigation pumps; and Hunnarshala of Bhuj, India for their artisan-led reconstruction in post-disaster areas.  Architecture for Humanity, who form part of our faculty, won the foundation’s Vision Award. The annual prize, in its sixth year, awards talented designers who “harness their ingenuity and craft for social good” and will divide $120,000 equally among the honorees, chosen for their use of design as a force for improving lives and strengthening communities.
